Antonios Poulios

Brief CV

I studied psychology at the Department of Psychology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, I continued by receiving a Master in Clinical Psychology and I completed my studies by receiving a doctorate in the same Department. During my undergraduate studies I received scholarships and awards from the I.K.Y. and the Pantia-Ralli Bequest while I did my postgraduate studies as a scholarship holder of I.K.Y. I have been awarded the internationl prize for the outstanding contribution in the intersectional approach of sexuality from psychoanalytic and cultural perspective of the Alexandra and Martyn Syonds Foundation by the journal Studies in Gender and Sexuality for 2022. I am a member of the Hellenic Psychological Society and the International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.

Professional experience

I have worked in a variety of contexts and programs in Greece and Abroad, including the Mobile Mental Health Units NE and W Cyclades of EPAPSY and the Quality Improvement in Chemsex and Combination Prevention Interventions of AIDS Action Europe. I am currently working privately as a clinical psychologist providing psychoanalytic psychotherapy and clinical supervision. I am also scientific coordinator of the community programs of the Association of HIV-positive people in Greece “Positive Voice” (Athens & Thessaloniki Checkpoints, Red Umbrella Athens, Chemsex Support, Streetwork Project), member of the Orlando LGBT + “Mental Health Without Stigma” training committee and external collaborator of the Laboratory of Clinical Research: Subjectivity and Social Bond, Department of Psychology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Research and scientific interests

My research interests include psychoanalysis (theory, practice, community applications), sexuality and its non-heterosexual expressions, addiction and recreational substance use (club drugs, chemsex), the effect of discrimination and stigma on the health of the vulnerable populations, violence, gender-based violence and community applications of clinical psychology and health psychology.

Laboratory of Clinical Research: Subjectivity and Social Bond, EKPA: Construction and adaptation to a Greek population of a projective assessment tool for children, based on the combination of two French-language tools for completing a story. (2021 – today).

Postgraduate Master Program in Clinical Psychology, EKPA: Investigation of the correlation of restrictive measures taken to prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2 (CoV-19) coronavirus and its compliance with quality of life, prevalence strategies and mentalization, in the Greek population (2020-2021).
